Print out and use the counting sheet for nursery students. Ask them to count "how many bananas, how many birds, how many red hearts?" etc., and then how many red things, black things, yellow things.... so that it teaches them not only counting skills, but introduces them to the idea of sets.
After they have used the counting sheets, give them half a page of A4, and some cut out coloured shapes and ask them to make a "counting" sheet with (example), ten stars, five hearts, twelve circles, eight squares, etc. Make sure you prepare the lesson with enough coloured shapes from your craft punches!
